This was my third attempt at doing this Vertex Workshop / Sketch pencil from PTI via Turners Retreat. I was after a rustic looking finish, the first 2 in black ash & london plane burr, were so rustic they both blew out. So I decided to look for something a little more robust amongst the blanks (got to be wood for a workshop pencil) and came up with this Laburnum, which comes from a garden in Yorkshire via Neil Lawton.

I really like these kits, well made and you end up with quite an hefty pencil, I will be making more, could just do with a cheaper supply of them.

It's very nice and I agree about the price. I have a couple of the rizheng kit's still to do, not as nice as these, but for the workshop, not too bad.

I've had one of these for years ... never seen my workshop since it left it ... don't want to drop it and mess it up

You ended with a good choice of wood Billy, it does look good .. I think it would be a better kit though with just one long tube ..
