Poor Ethan
A one-scene tragedy in prose​

List of characters, from right to left:
* Mamy Norma, a little absent-minded as usual, and not really awake because it is one o'clock a.m.
* Grandpa Eugene, Norma's husband, self-righteous, says nothing, but that doesn't stop him thinking.
* Seb, son-in-law of the previous, Ethan's father, relatively calm but not happy at all.
* Lisa, Ethan's mother and Seb's wife, daughter of Norma and Eugene, in a moment of noisy hysteria.
* Poor Ethan, son and grandson of the previous characters, not full of self-assurance at the moment.
* The TV set, corpus delicti, property of Seb and Lisa, whose right of use was delegated to Ethan, apparently under hardly accepted conditions.


Scene I, three or four young voices, off:
- Hey, know what? Ethan's parents tear him off a strip!
- No?
- What about?
- Watching TV at midnight the day before the math quiz, hidden in his bedroom!
- Yeah, but still, y'know, House of Throne was starting its thirty-first season...
- O bugger, he missed it!
- And his grandpas, didn't say anything?
- Oh, you know, Granny, since she began her scoliosis ...
- Watzat, schooliosis?

In fact, most of the pieces above are exercices. What I wanted to do was this trembler of holly, 17cm high, the stem is 1.5mm thick, spheres are opened in three different directions:

I am all a tremble just looking at the finished items Pierre,enjoyed the narrative, loved the pictures.They are all forgiven,just the appearances demand that. Mind you I do remember the years when the eight of us were together,the separation to Sydney,Canberra,one to Hawaii for University.then marriages and all points of the compass ie Nth Queensland,Coffs Harbour, Sth of Perth,Alice Springs,Brisbane,USA and Canberra. Now a total of 75 of us.Thank goodness for the Broadsheet on the kitchen wall.

Fantastic piece especially as they are only practice. I would have loved to have seen the set up for hollowing the spheres especially the one in the last photo when you did the top one.

Now that I know Holly is good for these I may just have to cut up the logs I have to do one well maybe a long way in the future as so many projects I want to do first. The to-do list keeps getting longer all the time

Glad you like my writer's capacities!

I would have loved to have seen the set up for hollowing the spheres especially the one in the last photo when you did the top one.

As for the making of, I first turn the stick round and prepare the spheres :


Then, I change axis so that I can hollow them :


Then, I go back to the first axis and finish turning.

Holly is the best wood for tremblers, easy to cut, nearly as hard as boxwood but much flexible.
