Hi All

following on from yesterdays post I tried again this time with a fountain pen.
This time I tried to get a little closer to the brass - in fact I did and had to start again.
I am quite happy with the end result.

It one of the old time originals the flat top american T/R still sell them this it the kit I started with many moons ago I dont know about now but you had to have an 8mm mandrel for them

Vinny used to sell them too as the Americana I think.
They used a 7mm mandrel from him If I remember right.
Unless you got them from me Woody I might still have a couple, not really my cuppa I am afraid.

No mate I haven't turned them for years now there was a few different versions of them

I'm not familiar with this kit but is the nib pushed in far enough? there seems to be a gap. It might just be the kit or the photo but apart from that, its a very nice pen. Well done.

One reason I found for the blank blowing when trying to turn closer to the tube is that the drilled hole is too big. Either try drilling the hole tighter or use some epoxy or thick ca to fill the gap. Others on you would probably be able to give other reasons but that's what I've found.
