Yes Brain they do go either way round, downloaded instructions do say if the shorter tube is to be the cap then mark the mech to 13/16'' from the end and push in to the mark . I prefer the conventional look but, now that you have mentioned it I may try one the other way round. The finish doesn't take all that long . I have worked out that from wiping the turned blank down with white spirit , applying three coats of CA/BLO and micro-ing from 1800 through to 12000 and back to 6000 takes no more that five minutes in total..
