On another thread I showed some pens made up of crop ends of acrylic pen blanks. this WIP is done with xcut oak but the process is the same.
I start with cutting a card template 20mm wide & a little longer than the pen I'm making. The top is cut at 45 degrees.

Sand the opposite sides of the crop ends so the mate together.

Glue the first piece onto the template at 45 degrees then glue each piece in turn to each other using CA pressing together with fingers untilset.

Trim the sides, cut to length, drill & insert tubes.

Square blanks off to length.

Mount the blank on the lathe, turn to size & sand.

This is my pen making tool & I useit to make all my pens whether it be acrylic, polyester, corian or timber.
It is made from a HSS planer blade & is 5" long & sharpened at both ends , square & curved. It is bevelled on both sides to form a negative rake like a skew chisel. It does not need a handle & is just gentle held in the fingers.

The pen is hen buffed with a polishing compound. This is one of my buffing mops.

I made a mistake in posting, I made the over run into a separate thread instead of putting an extra post on here. I've sent Jim a pm to see if he can marry to two into one thread.

A nice little WIP Bill. A good way of using all the little pieces up.
