A couple of years ago we had a Xmas swap on the Woodworkers Institute forum & I was paired up with Mark Sanger who made me a beautiful little Japanese inro box & I made him this Xmas fairy which he said he would put on his tree.
She is made from sycamore, painted with jo sonja irridescent paint & finished with acrylic spray lacquer. My granddaughter Lisa drew the face. The piece is hollw right through & the skirt is turned to 1mm thick to keep it nice & light. The hair is carved & textured & added to the head.

When Wilma was little she dropped the China Doll a gift from her Mum she kept it feeling lousy for umpteen years took a course on Porcelain Doll making now Wilma is a very competent artist when it came to painting the face she painstakingly made so far the lady instructor simply erased the faces she created until she felt happy with it.

So I know the importance of painting faces on dolls it breathes life into them through that window.Lisa captured this character with her painting. When family members combine its priceless Bill the doll is otherworldy. Wilma was a staunch member of a Cloth Doll Club seems forever her comment just now absolutely lovely I join with her to thank you for showing.
