Yet another steep learning curve

Whilst I was banned woodworking etc following a heart op I spent many hours flat on my back surfing the net and you tube and decided that once I got back in the workshop I would have a go at bandsaw boxes. (Also I was getting bored with pens … Heresy I know). So in order of learning and many errors here they slowly improve.



This one got sanded too much inside so the gap is too big and I was also learning to Flock didn't get that right either.



But each is a learning experience

This is an Ash glue up, I cant quite work out what the black mark on the lower drawer is because I can't see it on the box it might be a reflection off the granite.



and the flocking is smoother despite the patches that the flash shows up but I'm working on it

Note to self must use close grained wood in future!!

Something that I do with bandsawn boxes is glue a couple of very thin pieces under the draw so that it sits centrally in the opening as you may have found it looks odd with the bottom sitting tightly down and a larger gap above the draw. I will see if I have a photo of what I am talking about

Thanks Derek I'd thought of that for the first one but every time I put some very thin veneer on it looked really odd. But then I suppose one doesn't sit there with the drawer out .

I stick them to the drawer bottom so even if you remove the draw they are not seen and also leave them a little short at the front so they are not seen. Had a look but did not have any pictures of the runners but can see what they do in this picture the drawer sits nicely with the same gap all around it

Yes that's what I meant but it was the drawer with the runners that upset my sense of aesthetics. I think that I should also put magnets in the back to stop the drawers falling out and that should then realign them to the missing front and back kerf
