This Yew bowl was turned last week and then given three coats of Danish Oil and then left to dry today I finished it off by giving it a Buff.
It measures 7 1/2" X 3"

A hole in one marks the centre of interest in the bowl, drawing attention from the top to the reason for the swirling grain. The finish works well with the burnt edge, sapwood influence.\ Derek.

No burnt edge Peter the dark area is the bark on the rim as well as in the hole

I am not really aware of the characteristics of Yew ie with regard to bark etc ,could I then presume the hole emanated from a branch originally?

Peter.
