Hi Phil.

The idea of rounding down at the bushes is to hide any inaccuracy you may have, the tip, cap finial or centre band will meet at some point and reduces the ridge so it's not so obvious a cock up.

My suggestion if you want to round off would be to take the bushes out altogether. slip the blanks back on the mandrel and then round off or just go over the middle again to get that extra shave off the centre where the band will go.

That also saves you sticking the bushes to the blank with the ca you are now going to apply.
