This months club competition was something you can use in the kitchen so I went for an Ash mortar & pestle, textured parts are finished with Rubio monocoat teak blue oil the rest with their pure oil.

Glad you have, I hope you enjoy it, it's a shame you've not been before, it's been going for at least 30 years. Well I'm going to have to up my game because it looks like I've got more competition to win a placing.
I did go 12 or 13 years ago when it was held in a school if I remember correctly, I believe it started quite early in the evening & you had to be off site by 9:00pm.Glad you have, I hope you enjoy it, it's a shame you've not been before, it's been going for at least 30 years. At the time this wasn’t conducive with work which was a shame as it was closer than the club I joined at the time.
It wasn’t until I was chatting to Pat Murphy on the Dukeries stand at the recent Midlands woodworking show that I learned that the club had moved to its present location & as work is now far more workshop based I was easily able to make the 6:30pm start time.
I like the monthly competition aspect as I really need to turn more, it’s daft as I really enjoy turning but all to easily put it off as I’ve other work to do so don’t make time hopefully the competition will alleviate that.

Yes, being in the school workshop was a real pain in the proverbial, all the benches had to be moved before the meeting and back after, so glad that they moved.
