PS Billy, it's THIS coming Saturday
Lesley is a lovely lady. She is Secretary for Sheffield woodturners.Just back from the open day & what a glorious day it was, it was great to meet up with Billy from the forum & a few members from my local woodturning club.
Nic Westermann was demonstrating his blacksmithing skills, it was really interesting to see a rectangular blank of steel being forged into an axe head.
After punching a hole through the blank Nic started by shaping the neck
He then moved onto the heal keeping the hole open with a former whilst shaping it for the handle
Finally shaping the blade.
This photo shows the head standing on the anvil, shaping finished & also a blank the same size from which this head was forged.
I also met & had a long chat with a very nice lady turner Lesley Churton from Sheffield who was demonstrating acrylic pen turning.
A couple of her really excellent pens
I managed to control my spending to just a couple of Cocobolo blanks, an Olive wood blank, a countersink, 2 Liberon wax sticks & a extendable magnetic thing-e-ma-bob
