Waited all week in the cold for a new controller so got fed up yesterday and pulled the old one apart, a touch screen (lesson no 90 for me) cleaned it all inside and out, new batteries in , program morning and evening operation for the Hydronic System with a Gas heater on the outside wall. Eureka moments followed and we are now warm. It has been erratic since new but now follows instructions. Three hundred dollars better off yipee.

had a great day in the shed today. First of all managed to cast a couple of blanks well 16 altogether and that was this morning taken care of then a lovely Sunday lunch but not like most of you oldies on here I don't have a afternoon nap, so went out in the shed again and rough turned some 5 bowls the largest is 8 1/2". These are from the wood that cost me £5 and I still have another 6 or 7 bowls to rough turn as well as some odd bits not sure what to do with them.

Last Saturday was compulsory Election day. This caused by a double dissolution and roughly 8 weeks till Saturday of crap all round, mud slinging etc.

Until late Saturday night ball by ball descriptions, still no definite result. Counting will resume tomorrow. All indications are for a hung parliament oh joy I don,t think.

Brings out the best and worst in everyone reminded me of Brexit.

After wasting time this morning running around I managed the afternoon in the shed again completing the roughing out of bowl blanks. The first is today's effort and the second picture is all the bowls I managed to get out of two lumps of beech so far there are some small pieces left but I suspect I can get some small boxes or even a couple of vases/ hollowforms so I am pretty chuffed not bad for a fiver:wink:

yet another day working on the spalted log bits. From the left over bits I have now managed to get 6 spindle blanks each about 3" X 3" X 8" and also 4 1" X 1" X 8" ones which I may keep for some pens. The rest had splits in it and not usable for anything. Well tomorrow is another day and I have to go out to see a man about some more logs Walnut and Yew and possibly other species. He did mention that there may be some more of the spalted Beech but in longer lengths which if true can give me some nice 18" bowls platter material fingers crossed.

Batching for the rest of the week just asked if they could take the two dogs and cats as onboard luggage so I can dissapear into the workshop. Constant rain the wettest coldest of times forecast at least again into next week. After dry years it is different and our dams are full.I have my sheet of instructions, learning to defrost portions for the dogs meat. Spoilt by my Mum for 20 yrs, my wife ny on 62 yrs I have no complaints.

No shed today as I have been out rummaging through a pile.

And I came back with this little pile, a mixed bag Walnut, Cherry, Yew, Hawthorne, Elm, and one he thought was Maple. The slabs are 18" ones for scale
