    I like the grain

    I was going to colour this one but didn't have the heart. I think the wood is Ash. I quite like this one; plain but strangly inviting. Cheers Frederick

    My first pens

    My first pens, having been woodturning for a while. I made them both out of elm burr. The blue one is a ProKraft Byron and the other is a Beaufort Ink mistral. I’ve applied a CA finish and I need to improve my technique, but I think that will come with practice. Ash

    Ash Bowl

    Thought I would have another go at a piece of turning found what appeared to be a plain piece of ash in the woodpile, pleased with what I found inside. Finished with sander sealer and then put on my buffing system, I did add a coat of woodwax22 on top of that

    An Ash platter

    Nice piece of Ash, turned a few weeks ago, finished with oil. Diameter is 195mm, 30mm internal depth. Split runs through to the back and is just visible in the bottom of the bowl. Must have been a very stressed tree! As always, C&C please. Thanks, Chriscb

    Just sprayed with Lacquer and yet to decide on a base. Turned on 3 centres. Turkey Oak stained red with an Ebony button. Ash veneer, Sycamore, and a twig sprayed green for the stem and leaf.

    Wood id - ash or wych elm?

    Evening all, Inherited some wood from a retiring turner and i'm not convinced of some of his wood id's.Attached re some shots of one log that he's called Wych Elm, but it looks like Ash -all be it darker than I've seen before. Any thoughts? Thanks. Chriscb

    Stabilised Cross Cut Spalted Ash Shakespeare

    Here's a stabilised cross-cut, spalted ash Shakespeare, finished in melamine. Blank from Brad and it's got to be the easiest cross-cut I've done, issues with the others I've tried have been chipping/breaking out, I don't think they were stabilised though, like this one.
