Hi guys, I have been asked to make a pen for a friend and they want it made from resin. When I have been drilling my wood blanks I have noticed that the blank was getting hot and smoking slightly and I am scared that I get a blowout with the resin blank. I have read that you can use a dry lube...
Hi,
new here as per the intro section. I just drilled out a blank in maple and pressed in the pen ferrule. I did these jobs on my metalworking lathe with the 4 jaw chuck set up.
But now (as soon as I have cleared a space for it!) I must do the wood turning bits. I can either plunge the 4 claw...

I turned a blank for a mistral ball pen. It was like turning glass every time I touched it it was a nightmare.
I could not get the cut blank to glue to the brass tube. I made the pen but you can rotate the body and the top of the pen by hand. I have used loads of glue but to no avail. I am...
I turned a Leveche rollerball using a Brown Mallee Burr blank. I used epoxy to glue the blank to the tube and after bringing into the house for a couple of days cracks appeared along some of the burr lines. I finished it using Phil's melamine technique.
Any advice to prevent this much...
Yes well I don't know if it can be fixed but here is todays offering

I've had one of those days AGAIN !!! Yep every thing that could go wrong has.
So I couldn't sleep so at 4.00 AM I glued up the Tubes and got glue all over the coffee table. Anyway went back to bed after a film or two. So I thought I would turn my pen about 9.00ish as I was...
Hi all, as per my title two TM Omegas is totally different jackets...
A Gold in Afzelia xylay (lovely grain) and a copper in a blank from PSI called 0s and Xs the resin has a copper pearlescense to it(honest!)
I made this for a lady who has enjoyed watching goldfinches in her garden during lockdown. She asked for something to capture the essence of them, so I made the blank myself. (Why couldn’t she have picked Blackbirds instead?). Anyway I think it’s pretty close.
Cheers
Ash
I am after a pen kit that will incorporate this segmented piece. It's just over 80mm long.
Does anyone know of a UK pen kit with a tube that will accommodate the blank shown without me cutting away any of the segmented area?
Was looking at the TM Epsilon but it's only 65mm
Have you ever had one of those days when everything you touch turns into a disaster? Well, I had one of them days today. Spent eight hours in the shed lost a pen body blank it just exploded on the lathe. lost another cap blank a chunk came off on the last pass. Had all sorts of problems with...
Turned this one today it's the Taylorsmirifield Shakespeare calligraphy set on a Pam Harris blank from highland boxes. Excuse the pap pictues they dont do it justice. Its my rubbish phone.
Turned my first in acrylic, second ever fountain pen today!
Executive model, can't remember the name of the blank, if it even came with one! :whistling:
What an amazing kit the Sirocco is. Really enjoyed working with a more 'premium' kit. Only had one issue, and that was when pressing the clip in. The angle of the actual clip was holding it off the blank at quite a steep angle, and I think any more pressure would have cracked the blank. I'm...
This pen is made from an oak blank donated by Neil Lawton. It could be turkey oak, I hope Neil can tell us. It’s finished with melamine & micro wax. Thanks Neil.
