    although it took 3 failed attempts, about 5 hours and i glued the blank to my thumb.. first 2 are in the shed somewhere.. all cut by hand shame it cracked on assembly but you live and learn sorry about the sound track, will sort it when i get home

    Decking from the USS New Jersey

    A nautical pen dressed in x cut Burmese teak decking Fromm the USS New Jersey Americas oldest surviving battle ship the wood is over 100 years old I had quite a lot of rotting wood to cut away to salvage this and just 4 other pieces

    .. a dish American Oak, finished with Yorkshire grit, standard & microfine. A it was a 'coaster' blank I tried a hot glue chuck for the first time so I could cut a small recess, 1st thing larger than a pen in 40 years, top & bottom views
