    What a shame

Well had a tree surgeon in today to take down a conifer tree which we let get to big. I measured it at the cut and it is 37inches diameter but being a very soft wood not much use to turners. I got them to leave the stump a little tall as not 100% sure what to do with it may just cut it shorter...

    Skinny

This was a Hazel crotch that had a split and a part chainsaw cut right across it so I just turned it until the cut was gone. 6 1/2" x 1" 3 approx 3/2 thick. (2mm)

    Distraction turning

I've got quite a few bits to do but want none of it at the moment so just turned this. The bark had had it and there was a straight cut on an upward branch so a bit of reshaping and pyro was in order!

    Corian Celtic Knot

Not really a fan of corian. However had a piece 25mm sq cut it into 4 pen blanks, hate waste. Haven't seen many corian with a celtic so went for it. Acrylic centre band integral to the top section. The knot is black tulip veneer double thickness with a slight sanding to be correct for the kerf.

    Eucalyptus question

Hi, Sorry if this is not the right place for the question - really wasn't sure where to be! I was given some green eucalyptus logs which have been out to season. There's a beautiful figure when cut (that's another story!) and I wondered if I cut some into coasters, what should I finish them...

This was a fantastic pattern to cut of the great John Wayne. I have used Cedar for the pattern and Yew for the frame. Cedar is a fantastic wood to cut and smells great. This was cut with a Hegner and Olson 2/0r blade. I just need to add a few coats of Danish oil and John will be ready for the...

    Birthday Present

So, it was my birthday on the 4th and this turned up on the 6th. By the time I got in I was too tired to open it! Got it open and set up by the 8th. Couldn't for the life of me get the bloody software to work properly until I found a forum on it and did my first successful engrave and cut...

    Branding stamp attempt no 2

So.... After a good cry and severe self kicking I cut off 2 hours of work and started again. Much better effort although it's really only me who recognises what it is I'm happy with it though will probably finesse it a bit especially where the L crosses the R to separate the letters a little. I...
