Hi all,
No1 for today's offerings is this TM Epsilon with a Cs blank I managed to squeeze out.... Its OD was spot on finish size so just a polish on the cap end:ciggrin:
I do love this stuff, if it wasn't so awkward!
Thought I would share an old photo of a few surfboards and sailboards I made years ago. I have seen a few discussions on pen finish in the forum especially resins, CA etc. I have worked with different resins and finishes all of my life and seen many professional mess ups for sure. The boards in...
I was chatting to someone a few weeks ago and they told me that they always wax a pen regardless of the finish (C.A, melamine etc) or if it is Acrylic or wood.
Since then it has been revolving around my head as to why they would do that.
I was going to ask on here but feel you may all be tiring...
Had a little play today Not sure it could be a platter, Bish or bowl what ever I really enjoyed making it tHe wood is Olive ash just got to finish spraying it
I appreciate this has been discussed many times before but there is currently an interesting dialogue on The International Association of Penturners members forum about pen finishing. I take this to be a concern with wood rather than acrylics as using one of the proprietary polishes on plastic...
Hi all,
Back to more 'C' gifts... :winking:
The first is spalted Tamarind, the second double dyed Maple. Both were stabalised and really easy to turn and finish. I have a third left to get engraved so going well:pray::pray:
Well nothing is straight forward with this hobby it seems,
The new minefield I seem to be tip-toeing through is the one of blue towelling, the more I search for a good price the more put off I become,
There are loads of differing versions out there.
For those of you that use them what is your...
Here is my first Acrylic.
It is a Christmas gift for someone.
I got the blank from flexi a while ago, thanks Mark, and I have always been a bit reluctant to turn it.
After seeing some absolutely stunning work from you guys I decided to give it a try and WOW am I glad I did.
I enjoyed it so...
I almost did not manage to do this pen due to the blank breaking, Well I say breaking but I think exploding would be a better description.
Not sure what the wood was but it was very "powdery" in that it was only giving off dust and not ribbons.
Once that happened I decided to use one of the oak...
Made a Celtic pen using callipers once again, I struggle so much getting the measurements of the blanks spot on :sob:
This pen is plagued with problems, one of them just makes no sense what's so ever to me.
One end of the blank is level with the tip whilst the other end goes over to one side...
Hi all,
Les Elm has mastered a dipping method for a pen finish using a wipe on poly coating.... Well I saw this and thought I might try
Then I went to Axi.... :rolling::rolling:
Again not too happy with this.
This is the largest bowl I have done to date (4 bowls and a dish) and my 3rd sole bowl.
I turned this over the weekend and really messed up on the finish (again)
I do think I am getting a little bit better and am certainly more confident.
CC is more than welcome...
