A Wonderful Historic Pen.
This Pen is made from Jamaican Cocuswood ( Brya Ebenus ) which was recovered from a wreck of a ship that sank in 1783 whilst returning from Jamaica carrying Cocus in its cargo.
Cocuswood (Brya ebenus) is a beautiful wood and found mainly in Cuba and Jamaica. Very soon...

What a Waste,
And I am not referring to the Ian Dury and the Blockheads song that I can no longer get out of my head
12 yes 12 blanks ruined today, what makes it worse is that 9 of them (6 acrylic) I ruined whilst trying to drill the wrong size hole :rolling:

Christmas Promtion PKSL-3 Slimline Gold Twist Pen Kit - Strongink Pen Kits
Has anyone used them before and are the kits the same as other kits out there?
They seem to be legit and I was wondering if the kits are the same as...
Can anyone point me in the right direction on where to buy a quality metal keyring ring so that i can make three personalised wooden keyrings. I have found plenty out there but the quality is not good enough to supply with the three pens that I am making. Many thanks.
I tried the other kit I had of a shock absorber pen, whilst turning it near the finish my hand twitched.
The good news is that I found a 3rd kit to go at.
I will give it a try once I get better at making the pens using callipers.
These are my first two pens - I was stuck which sub-forum to post in as there is one wood and one acrylic.
Done on my Proxxon DB250 that I was repurposing - I think I've found a new expensive hobby ;-)

There seem to be many types of 'resin' blanks. Kirinite, polyester, acrylic, gps and more. What have people found to be the pros and cons of these different types please?

There is a moth in France whose caterpillars are devastating the boxwoods all around, it can be got rid of, but many people are just ripping up their hedges and giving me the wood so I have found a use for the thinner branches.

Hi
I live in Cardiff and I’ve been woodturning for quite a while, but it was only last week that I made my first ever pen. I’ve made a couple more since and even managed to ruin one, (at least I’ve learnt that those things are really hard to pull apart and it’s best to get it right first time)...
Thought I would have another go at a piece of turning found what appeared to be a plain piece of ash in the woodpile, pleased with what I found inside. Finished with sander sealer and then put on my buffing system, I did add a coat of woodwax22 on top of that
