Here is the result of my first home made hybrid. The photos don't really do it justice, as you cant quite see the swirls of gold pearlex in the blue. But I like it, reminds me of an underwater scene. OK, onwards and upwards!

Quick question for you. I've just made my first hybrid pen. It is about 50/50 blue optic-cast resin and stabilised poplar burl. I've have taken it back to 12000 grit and it looks great.... but.... If it was a wood pen, I would now finish it using the Melamine technique, if it was acrylic I...

My first ever hybrid. I had quite a few blow outs and had to use a bit of touch up glue and saw dust. I do like the end result but I know I can get a better finish in future, also the transition still looks off a bit off. Feedback, as always is welcome. Simon

Hi all i posted on here that Axminster were doing a new range of hybrid blanks....well they are now on there website ( unlike before). These are from PSI so are not cheap but they are nice to turn and produce good results...the down side is who knows what wood it is??:thinks::thinks: Fiji Pen...

Hi all my last Axminster/ PSI hybrid Blank Fitted to an Alpha

This is a "hybrid" cigar pen from Berea. It's called hybrid, because it's chrome with satin accents. The blank is from Beartooth Woods, and is called Stormy River. Very pretty blank, and a nice combination, I think.
