    A couple of new ones.

I had an idea for a bit of decoration so went to the turning shed and selected the plainest Sycamore blank I could find. A few cuts later and it didn't look so plain after all! 10 1/2" x 3 1/2" Horse Chestnut. 8 1/2" x 4 3/4" finished in Danish oil. This was very punky and tore out with any...

    Sierra with palm wood

I'd forgotten what a bugger palm wood was to turn. I lost the first one and salvaged this by using a lot of ca and aluminium fines.

    Favourite kits?

Hi everyone. I have made a lot of different kits over the 18 months that I've been turning but probably a lot more that i haven't tried. Some are excellent and of course some fall in the other end of the spectrum. What i'm asking is what is your favourite kit in each category. you can copy and...

    Zeta dressed in Cranberry Crush

First time I have used the new Bosch Pillar drill to drill out the blanks. I have to say it was a lot easier than when I did it on the lathe, so I'm a happy camper now :-)

    Stool

A good mate has for years had an old stool in his engineering workshop which he uses rather than kneeling down when working on his projects. Recently he had been doing quite a lot of work on his aging Range Rover to ensure it passed its MOT, unfortunately in his eagerness to get to the MOT...

First lot of Pearl-Ex home made blanks.

First pen made with my first batch of blanks using Pearl-Ex powders. In fairness to the blank it does show a lot more pearlescence in real life. The cap band was made from a scrap piece of TB's Pearl Opal blank that I destroyed on the lathe a couple of years back...moral 'don't throw yer bits away'.

    Button Jaws

Are there any tips or tricks to getting them to run a bit more concentric? For most cases just cleaning up the foot of a bowl it doesn't matter too much if it's running a bit off centre but sometimes it would be nice if things ran a bit better. I suppose it's asking a lot given the feet are...
