A few more turning efforts I did a while ago ... A goblet made out of a bed leg! No good wasting nice wood when your practicing eh :funny: The bed has a wobble and I've no idea what the wood is. A little mahogany pencil pot with a pyro'd Welsh dragon, made for my Mum. A lidded box, again...

Enjoyed making these this morning, although the Spalted Cherry was a little more spalted than I thought. Plenty of CA held it together though. left to right - 2 x African Mahogany from a 1950 Rail carriage. Laburnum, Bog Oak and then the Spalted Cherry. Loving the Mistral in Gun metal & Bog...

It's been a while since I turned a pen. Good to know I haven't lost my touch. This is a chrome Calypso from Woodturningz. The wood is African mahogany, I believe. Subtle grain, but I like that. The finish is Watco Danish oil.

I had some bits of timber left over from making our dining room table, so i cut and glued them up for a bowl. It seemed ok but now i'm not sure if it's a bowler hat or a piddle pot. It's mahogany and oak ( i think) Don't know why the pictures they came out that way as the originals are not...

Need help on identifying this wood, I started to turn this bowl today, just thought it was Mahogany now i'am not so sure so can anyone tell me for sure what it is and would it be ok for a Salad bowl? :thinks:

Hi Guys, Done a segmented Knurl to experiment on design. This was one, the other pen kit did not turn out to good, but the principle of turning around segmented pieces is and can be mind boggling. The GT was from slithers of sycamore and mahogany woods and the two ends were sycamore, finished...
