A quick phone call to Dave at Stiles and Bates and i had 4 stabalised spalted tiger oak blanks....thats what the labels said and i am not faulting S&B ( you can't really, excellent service always)

Very much enjoy turning pens, especially segmented styles of my own design.

I have just been given some pieces of cellulose paint cracked from an old car and it has many layers.
I have cut two pieces into 12mm square blanks and will hopefully turn a twist pen
Any advice on turning layered paint??

I have just turned and part way through finishing a blank for a bolt action tec pen. I am noticing very dark dots or streaks in the wood (very strong in the pictures below). This one is using some Indian Babul wood. Is this just a property of the wood, is it a poor quality...
