Acquired a ready glued segmented blank earlier in the year and only just got round to giving it a go.
First go at one of these "squarey bowly thingys", I would be lying if I didn't say there were more than a few "erse clenching" moments while doing the wings, and the less said about the end...
This appeared on my Facebook wall today, if you've ever wondered how to make a large segmented urn this is an interesting video enjoy :drool:
Video and work by Stuart Nelson - Marvelous Woodworking
Segmented Sierra, Yellowheart and Wenge.
Put a new blade on the saw causing ragged edges
and possible bleed of the Wenge into the Yellowheart.
In hand, under bright light, even withe my glasses on,
you don't see it. Damn Camera.
A Segmented Chrome plated Omega Fountain pen,
Made using Tambotie, Pink Ivory, pau Amarello with a Dymondwood sandwich down the middle , highlighted by Styrene inserts.
This was my first ever attempt at doing a segmented pen using nothing but scraps left over from previous pens, and some cuts from an old rifle stock. The English walnut was very very dense, and clearly came from the era of rifle stocks which were built to last!
Adie
Left over from the Gent kits didn't want to waste it.

It's a pleasure to join the forum, and I am looking to meet you all so that I can keep my learning curve in an upward direction.
Very much enjoy turning pens, especially segmented styles of my own design.
Would always appreciate tips and advise from anyone as much as I can do the same.
