Noticed I am now listed as a " top turner" i dont own a lathe yet, then realised it has something to do with number of posts,,,, ah now i get it but remember
Number of posts is the same as military rank,,,,, it has nothing to do with inteligence or ability :face:
Many thanks for the rank, but...
I have downloaded the instructions from the Tutorials section for making Firearms pens. I have laid out the parts and it appears the lower section ie. the bullet and the case will be shorter that the 7mm tube. This means the 7mm tube will be sticking out the end of the bullet case which in turn...
Many of you have read my post about the wood that I have just acquired well I did give the boss a couple of pens and a four of bowls as well and the obvious drink, which I believe has been a good investment considering the amount that I have as well as what is still to come.
What made it a good...

I have a Scheppach bandsaw Basato 1, i have only ever used 1/4 wide blades and they are a royal pain to get to run on the wheels. I have now bought a 3/8 wide blade and i cannot get the blade to stay on the wheels no matter what i do.
When i set the saw blade up i set all the guides wide open, i...
Aftrernoon,
Just emerged from the workshop. Hasten to add I haven't made all of the pens today - but over a few days!
Comments and critiques as always.
Most of the woods are easily recognisable - but a few may not be. Wavy click pens - two from bottom Silver Birch and Olive, above that Grass...
If I want to make a box like this one, what would be the best and easiest way of making the shaped pieces top an bottom? I'm thinking of making cat trees when I get my workshop back :thinks:
Has anyone put this kit together?
I'm not that impressed to be honest. The spring is not strong enough to retract the jaws so they close around the lead. Then when you press the top the jaws do not open enough to let the lead slide out.:thinks:
What I did like was the finishing Mops. :thumbs...

Hi Folks, I haven't been on much lately and haven't made any pens.

7" high stick top. Horns are antler and wings rams horn.
the head is 6 1/2" wide. Base 5" square beech, overall H 6 1/2
A little tribute to the loyal companion we lost...
Thought I would try inlaying some Maple veneer to see the effect. All 3 are stabilized Spectra-ply. Stabilizing helps holds the plys together while turning plus the added weight allows them to spin longer. My favorite is the first with the 3rd a close second. The 3rd top has some further...

Ive been really busy over Christmas with my craft fairs etc, and Ive sold quite a few TM Zeta's. To me, it's the perfect pen (almost). One issue Im having (and Ive had a few customers query the issue) is regarding the screwing mechanism at the top. To operate the pen, you twist the top one way...
Looking for peoples opinions here.
Which lathe should I upgrade to? Yes I know the best I can afford. And the question will bring our the Brand war
It has to go in a shed, so I am going to put a couple of planks down at right angles to the floorboards to spread the weight.
I'm down to a...
