Blimey, I can dream at least!

Grand kids came to visit us this weekend, one of the grandsons showed me what they do when work is slow at the metal works firm where he works up country! Log burners from gas bottles and odd bits of metal...:thinks: :rolling:

    A Zeta in Ocean Mist

My first time working with S&B Inlaced acrylic. I must admit, this has been the hardest acrylic to work with! But the results are nice. Adie

Thought it was about time to try a bit of plastic.

Having never turned Acrylic before I though I best give it a try and see what all the fuss is about. I like the results but must say I still like wood better, although I think that acrylic is easier to work, well this one anyway. Rhodium Mistral with black Titanium accents, Bock nib all paired...

    Help is at Hand

Just to let you know that I had a reply from a gentleman called Mike who is a member of the site. He has kindly invited me to his house on Sunday to show me how it's done. He only lives a short distance from me. By the look of his work he knows his onions as we say in the UK. Really looking...

    Geordie = Awesome!

That's what Ali says! A huge thank you to my good friend Geordie B (George Burdon) Knowing that I can't do any heavy work at the moment, he offered his help with the new workshop. He came over today and fitted the insulation and built the internal walls, a full days work and nowhere as simple...

    Centre finder

I ordered one of these yesterday. Proops centre finder for round bar lathes milling drilling 3 8 or 8mm spindle. M0286 I didn't think I needed one as I've used other methods before but I've had trouble recently finding the centre on some tapered bar. Hopefully it will work ok as I've made...

    Too late to worry now.

Too late to worry now. And the penalty for “Treason” is..?. from Larry Pickering. When our feminists ignore the genital mutilation, oppression of women, rape of little children of both sexes, we have a problem. When our Politicians condemn an elected member of the Dutch Parliament for...

    Newbie Just started

Hi Everyone, I'm Miles and I got a recommendation from Dave Goodwin of Pen Kitz and Bitz to join the forum, probably as a result of me asking him 100 and 1 questions all the time, but he has been awesome! So my main hobby is cricket, but now with a young family, permission to go out all day on a...

UK kit suppliers - Sierra Vistas?

Hi folks, I'm a newbie pen turner down in Brisbane, Australia. Sierra Vista kits are one of my favourites (got some second hand from fellow Aussie), but nobody sells them down here, and bringing them in from the US is seriously expensive with the current exchange rate. I thought buying some...

    Oxford Pink and Blue

This is my eighth Oxford ballpoint pen, with an Aquabright Pink and Blue Swirl blank, both from PSI. I like the Oxford pens, they're inexpensive, easy to turn requiring only one body (the upper body is pre-made), and look very nice. I've made several of these for the girls at work, and we hired...

My first ever ever turning project (ever)

OK, today I turned my first ever pen. More a chance to test the lathe and my tools etc, rather than creating a work of art! I bought 5 Axminster slim line pen kits and 5 cheap wood blanks to start to develop my turning skills. After a shaky start (wasn't sure which way the bushings went on the...
