Last week I tried turning a very shallow bit of wood and have made something resembling a dish or a very small bowl.
I am not too happy with what I produced but I may be being too harsh on myself.
I am more than OK receiving CC for this as I am aware it is wrong on many levels and I did not have the skill set to make it any better.

Definitely far too harsh on yourself! Has confidence as you have done really well with it.

I’m not sure why it’s so wrong on many levels. Be interested to hear why you believe that it is?

I believe from what I can see by the pics is it’s a very great effort and shape and form look good.

Difficult to say about finish but they looks good from what I can see.

Keep it up and have confidence, you should be proud of yourself.

I think I should of done better on the rim mate, on the bottom 2 images you can see a flat spot on the right hand side. This happened because as I was taking the dovetail off the back it went flying off the lathe. The finish is patchy, it really need sanding back and redoing but Mrs G likes it how it is and wont let me alter it in any way :rolling:

Not a bad effort. You know what needs improving so do it next time. If Mrs. G likes it then you’re on a winner.

You may see mistakes/faults but then remember that unlike some of us you have only just started your journey in woodturning. Things like this are ideal to keep so that in a years time you can look back and say "well I have certainly come a long way"

Keep itup and look at every cut as a practice cut

Did you enjoy making it? Can you use it ? Did you learn from it ?

If any of these is a yes then it’s a good piece of work.

I have some I first made 30 years ago to remind me I have progressed ( not saying in which direction :rolling:) .

It looks fine to me. I would have no clue how to turn a bowl. I can now turn pens but that's been a long learning curve. You are on the learning curve with your bowl turning but you are getting there. Keep it up. Keep posting and pictures are all ways good.
