...(1) the legal position regarding picking up felled timber? Today I spotted some timber in a wooded area frequented by runners and dog walkers (no Paul and Woody, not doggers) which I assume is private land with a Right of Access. I grabbed a bit, but felt a right pilferer as I made my way to the car.

... (2) this timber, which I picked up today in a wooded area - well, you know the rest! There's the best part of an entire tree there, large portions of which in easily pilferable sizes.

If you wanted David you could send it me, which would then ease your guilt at taking it & prevent you being found in possession of it :whistling::whistling:

Just dialled 999.... David listen for the knock.

Look on the bright side then David if it's anything like the police response time round here, you will have time to let it air dry completely, then turn it into a bowl & they'll never recognise it, so you'll get away Scott free

I remember saying to Terry that "I wouldn't trust that guy with any wood lying about" while we were at Turners Retreat during Woody's open day, obviously at the time i didn't know it was David .. :whistling:

Could the wood be Rowan, David?? :thinks:

It could well be Rowan, Jim. Looks like the centre of the tree is bit rotten, which may be what brought it down. The Highways Agency actually took it down because it is on the verge of a major urban road, they may well have thought it was about to fall into the road. Of course if it HAD fallen into the road it would have been on public property and this entire thread would have been moot ...

Ah tbh, that wood is quite round, so it could easily have 'rolled' back into the road In these 'winds' so I think you were doing a public service when you nicked it. :face:

There's a cut up silver birch tree, in lovely log size pieces that I drive past every day, been there since December.... I'm watching this post with interest. Ok it's on a blind bend.... But.
