I was on a desperate hunt the other day for various bits and pieces and had no luck anywhere. As a last resort I'd been directed to a small heavy engineering and fabrication firm who was able to source all sorts and also make what he couldn't get. Maybe a solution could be found by making a reducer thread for a more suitable size, I'm thinking of a thread within a thread that would screw into the headstock and take a smaller thread or maybe mt1 within it?

Edit; Ah, I see the shopsmith has no thread but still the general jist is there. :goesred:
