I can't see how anyone would hate them, they are striking, different and obviously well turned. I have always put off turning that kind material, but you have changed my mind and the next time I come across it, it will be done.

Woody, it seems that you can put anything on a lathe and turn your magic on it.
They look brilliant but I do agree with Grumps the centre band could be a bit thinner or am I dreaming that my center band is thinner...:funny::funny:
You should be able to sell these easily, so now have you booked the second low-loader yet... :funny::funny::funny:

I've decided that I like them that much That I'm gona try 'em ..I think Axminster sell the stuff ..now where did I put the catalogue ???

Ed,

Axminster don't do this sort and you will be disappointed.

The three sorts ( there are probably more) are the straight color laminated Axminster blanks, Dymondwood, sold by Turners Retreat, amongst others, and Tigerwood, sold by the Toolpost, which is the type that Woody has made. Each produces quite different results, My personal preference is Tigerwood as the best, Dymondwood in the middle and the Axminster stuff a dismal third.

Dymondwood is made by the Rutland Ply corporation, you can see thier brochure here http://www.rutply.com/pdf/RPC-DymondWood_web.pdf . This is the stuff that TR sell. I think that the stuff that Axminster sell is called Colorwood also made by Rutply and you can see more details here: ColorWood - Rutland Plywood Corporation.

The Tigerwood is made in the far east and I havent managed to track down the manufacturer.

Neil is right it is from tool post the 2" stuff was what I used you get 8 pen blanks from it and about 10 mm x 300mm left over but if you cut it a bit tighter you can work it so you have 12mm x 50 x 300mm left which you could use for another 8 slimline pens

Lovely job Woody & if they bring in the £££s then it doesn`t matter that they`re not to my taste, best of luck selling them, not that I think you`ll need it
