Woody, I debated going through this again but here it is I have a couple of blocks of Dymondwood one view shows how it is made up of the same timber dyed in many colours. Also a pic of my carrier pen for ten yrs or more goes everywhere with me, to drill it is like Snakewood, to cut is like aluminium, to turn is difficult. The glue laminate is carcionagenic (whats new so is CA).

On the plus side I could have sold hundreds of them the way I made mine creates an instant attraction, it has been through all the cycles of the washing machine since it resides in a shirt pocket every day.

I clearly remember when cut blanks were rare and highly sought after IMHO the best way to go.

Have fun I avoid still will carry my Dymondwood pen see no need to change a pen to use is just that for me, tough as teak.

Kind regards Peter.:thinks:

Thank you for that peter I have turned Dymondwood some years ago Turners retreat sell it in pen blanks and they used to sell it in 2" x 2" x 12" as well it was quite expensive but I haven't seen it in the 2x2 for a long time and I have never turned it in 2x2 to cut this as dymondwood there would be more waste than pen blanks so it will be cut straight which will look totally different I will make a center band with it going in the apposite direction a little trick one of Brian's grandsons showed us using military ply two ol codgers learning from a school boy good init and every pen I made with that ply after I made in the same manner all credit to our younger generation given the opportunity.
Brian tell him woody says thank you again
