Artist Pencil in Thuya Burr.

Finished with CA.

Needed to "overexpose" it a little to show the grain.

Very nice PENCIL Eamonn, these are a good robust kit I have had one in my workshop for years and is still as new.
That is a good picture too not over exposed but white balanced I would suggest, very nice.

That's a beauty Eamonn. I was pleasantly surprised by the finished article when I made the kit, and my daughter loves it (but then she's four and not very discerning ...).

Pen craft in Scotland do them as well Workshop/Sketch Pen & Pencil Kit

Pen Craft offer two versions - cheap (Chinese) and expensive (Taiwanese). I bought the cheap one for my daughter and it doesn't come with a clip.

For a short looking pencil I like that, lovely workmanship

It's not actually short at all - just quite portly so it looks shorter than it is. If memory serves the brass tubes are 11mm OD so the barrel is probably the best part of 15-16mm in diameter. That's heading into Statesman territory ...

David is right, the tubes are 15/32 drill size, just under 12mm the finished penCIL is nearly 16mm..

The length of the penCIL is just over 120mm so it possibly looks shorter as its dumpy with it.. That's dumpy.. Not grumpy..:funny:

I like Thuya, I have found that it doesn't like low speeds as it can cause you to dig in if its turned slow.

I'm sure they will come as nice for you Jim, from what I have seen from your work you will have no problem with them..

The kit is not everyone's cup of tea, I think this could become the new Polaris....:whistling:
