We were definitely in there then and must have been in for an hour at least. My wife was with me. The deputy manager was helping us most of the time.

Decisions made and changed by all of us re sharpening, tools make interesting reading consensis still far away. I liked Jim that you were able to try before you buy. The real benefit of club membership what with club gear and members personal experiences.I hearken back to one ageing member of our club who made a specialty of using Bridge timber, one chisel as scraper who had a knack of winning every year in a group that boasted world class professionals he could never sharpen very well.Sandpaper was his best friend. His table lamps were enormous fetching hundreds of pounds at the time he also used to weave his own shades from rushes etc. Every exhibition he was the first in sales a mate used to go over periodically and sharpen for him his eyesight was failed.

Well ask the wife if she was having a second coffee and was approached by another women (my wife) who asked if she needed help. She says she replied "no it's ok. The machine isnt making the coffee frothy enough". Of course could be someone totally different. :nooidea:

Is there a big advantage to the plus version of the Pro Edge as the difference is about £60.

Just had a dig around to see what the differences are between the plus and standard versions. The plus version has 3 items extra. Skew chisel jig, fingernail gouge profiling kit and standard gouge jig which would cost £83 on their own. The difference in price of the two kits is £63. So if the other jigs are needed then might as well get the plus and save £20.

I picked up a Pro-Edge plus system today along with a set of tools. I wanted a set mainly suitable for pen turning. The ones I got with the second hand Jet had definitely seen better days. I got the Micro Spindle Set shown halfway down this page . As soon as I go home and read the handbooks I find I need a PESPC Short tool platform with arm. Oh well better get it ordered. But looking at it, I am not sure how I will be able to sharpen the rough gouge chisel. As far as I can tell the standard gouge jig will only fit on the standard tool platform as it looks like there is no slot of the extra jigs on the short tool one. Or have I got it totally wrong :thinks:

I got home late so not unpacked or made room for it yet. I grabbed the instructions out of the box to have a read whilst having a pint. Thats where I saw the bit about the short tool platform and micro tools so looked up pictures of it and saw no groove for the extra jigs. I will get the thing out of the box tomorrow and hopefully, as you say, the standard platform will be fine. The thing is very well made though. Tempted on the knife sharpening addon someday.
