Its ok Ted I have found the start. I was looking for the name you used and it is HDPE
I had a go at the weekend while the oven was hot after Sunday dinner (missus wasn't impressed ). I wanted thin single colour slabs so I could cut them up then layer them together to re melt and twist.
Sort of worked but I discovered that greaseproof paper might be oven proof but so thin it tears when separating from the plastic and aluminium foil is even worse but the aluminium dish from a M&S dine in chicken thingy worked well. I melted a pile of white milk bottle bits then squashed it between two offcuts of melamine in the bench vice down to 10mm thk.
As soon as I've scraped off all the bloody foil from the others I'm in business. Might have a go with the halogen oven next time my wife is out
