Hi Peter,
very nice piece of work, better than the tree grown in smoky city streets, what they call quilted maple? made a couple of small bowls from it, but not burrs. So the tree lives on, good.

I haven't heard it called that, only lacewood. I am not sure if it is planted anymore, which would be a shame if not, it has brilliant grain.
