BLO & CA together = I'm confused

Glad to hear it thanks. I'm sure I can challenge that theory though! lol

I'm getting a lot of enjoyment from it I must say. I get satisfaction using my lathe for metalwork but it's very different turning wood as it's so much more hands on & direct input.
Plus I can rough stuff down in no time, which can't be said even with aluminium on my little machine - it gets very tedious at times.

I don't use blo, I use one sheet of kitchen towel to coat two pens complete, put three or four coats on each pen and put the glue direct on the rotating pen.

A different approach that works for me.

Can't view the pics of the IoM, but have been there many, many times, it is a beautiful place.

Yes Neil that's basically what I've been doing but just messing about in terms of the thickness of glue I use to experiment a bit.

That's odd that you can't see my website though. Could you possibly humour me and tell me if there's an error message or it just doesn't load, which browser you use etc? Sorry to be a nuisance.
Only reason I'm asking is it costs me to have that website and if it's not working right then I want them to sort the problem.

But yeah, it's a lovely place and I'm fortunate to live here. :)

I use kitchen paper towel folded a drop of water then the CA wait a few seconds test it is dry with the back of a finger then apply the next coat the dampness also acts as a activator, just another way.

Really? I never knew that about the damp. Thanks for the tip Ian.

I bought some activator but the bottle doesn't spray properly (ie really at all). :(

I found out the hard way mixing CA and BLO.

How do you mean? What happened that caused an issue with them? Sorry if I'm missing the obvious.

I did a pen yesterday and it took me forever. Just one of those days where I should have walked away from it and come back tonight instead I guess.
Every time I touched it I did something wrong!!

Here's the outcome anyway. It's not perfect but could have been worse:

Works for me too! Just be sure to use small amounts of BLO - one drop per coating. use small quantities of glue too - build up using BLO and CA alternately. I use about 10 layers (doesn't take that ling).
