That is a beautifully shaped pot without that silly aerial on it. A smashing bit of burr and extremely well turned and finished.

That's a lovely piece of elm you've salvaged there, Woody - and turned into a lovely piece of art!

Bob.

Wish I could find bits like that under my bench :sob:

Lovely bit of turning though, I assume the "wings" have to be hand sanded ? How do you attach your finial ? Is it a blind hole or does it go right through the lid?

Hi Phill yes mate the inside of the wings are sanded by hand and the outside of the wings are sanded with the walls quite easy and the hole dose go right through thats why there is a small button on the inside to cover up the underside of the hole

That Woody is a beauty, as soon as I saw the aerial and I scrolled down I was wondering when Brian would have something to say about it [emoji6] it's a clever bit of turning from an obvious master Turner.

and you've peed Brian off to boot !!!! LOL

Not a hope in hell of that with my dad init?

It's a long standing bit of banter, I admire them and think they are fantastic standing on a German helmet, clock, church spire, telegraph pole, lightning conductor etc.
They serve absolutely no practical nor ornamental purpose on a box unless it is to be inserted somewhere, all it does is spoil an otherwise lovely piece of work.

I knew he had put up to it or I would be knocking on his door to see if he required medical attention.
Might have known the chairman was behind it init?
