The first one, burr Elm, is the second one I have done and I still think it is not right as you can see part of the centre sleeve just below the centre band and I would imagine that it is not designed that way. The second one which is the first one I turned shows slightly more of the centre sleeve, I thought I had over trimmed the top tube, looking at the diagram that came with the kits it does look like the centre sleeve should be on show, but I don't like it like that.

Love the pen, but do find my eye drawn to the extra band showing.
May not have noticed as much if you had not pointed it out though.

Peter, at a guess i would say that that band went at the clip end, between the finial and the clip? Still nice pens though, showing some lovely burrs ..

Superb set of pencils Peter.

I like the shape, mfit and superb finish. Spot on.

I agree the band does show up a little more than would have liked, adds to the character and effect of them.

Nicely:thumbs: done..

This is the kit, I have the tubes the wrong way as the shorter tube is the cap.

Lots of character in those well turned and finished timbers.
Nicely :thumbs:done.
I like the effect of a bit of the flange showing.

I mill the tenon on all my 8mm Euro Premium frames to show a bit of the twist mechanism flange
which according to the instructions would be hidden by the center band.
