You need to be a bit careful not to apply too much pressure with tapered bushes as it can splay the end of the tube and split the blank if your not careful.
Having made special bushes etc ,tried most things,i do prefer stainless bushes shaved back from the blank for holding and turning. The thought of interupting, changing etc during the making of a pen I keep to a minimum. Love the dedicated pen lathe and associated machines, makes it smooth sailing for me.
