I was asked to make a Cannon ball bowl which intriqued me somewhat!
Apparently it is a tradition in Sweden to make a Mustard sauce to go with a Christmas fish course. The mustard seeds are crushed by putting them in a wooden bowl and swirling a cannon ball over them in the bowl. The wood is traditionally Birch as is this with a Spalted stand for the ball to sit on when not in use. The ball is a 6 pounder that came up from building work in York and the bowl is just over 10" x 4"
