Chess Board And Pieces

That board is gonna be spectacular when it's done. Where did the design come from?

I took the design from Lora S Irish, Book of Woodburning. There are enough changes that it is not a copy, but I must mention her as she gives her time/expertise freely (much like the people on this forum).

Today's pic is the mess I made trying to tie the chess pieces designs together.
I made the decision to turn the pieces using Tulipwood and Wenge.
I had to dig out the Wenge and I have enough to make a set and I only broke one blade in the bandsaw cutting the set out. :nonono:
Decisions have been made and the designs finalised, the pieces will be based on the Staunton set.
It could be a while before I get back to this but I will keep you updated.

Just took a look at Lisa's site, there's some fabulous stuff on there and stuff for beginners as well as advanced carvers and pyromaniacs. Quite a lot of free stuff and the for sale is reasonably priced as well.

Worth a bookmark for sure.

My wife wood give me an A plus if my mess was so restrained mate like the way you approach things.
