I don't wish to be rude or offend anyone but but I think it's a bit short notice and not announced til halfway down on page three or four. A new thread with the dates and criteria should be posted up. You don't need a prize, a hall of fame of winners entries and for each month would be prize enough, although I'm sure no one would object to the occasion special blank as a prize.

Speaking for myself, I have wood to make into blanks but I have no stock of penkits, so whatever the criteria I would have to get my order in, and this is a hobby to me and I don't have a great deal to spend on it. On this occasion I'd need a pencil kit too, and I'd have to research that cos I've not really give pencils much of a thought. A good competition needs just that, competition and I think a calandar monthly challenge would be pacey enough

It takes me a couple of hours to make my pen, but that's not really the point I'm making.

It doesn't need to be a pencil, so you can avoid research on that. None of us have as much money as we would like to spend on our hobby and we now that I am retired I can't afford to win any competition unless it is for a food hamper or a visit to the chiropodist.

yes pen \ pencil

Steve

So it is a pen / pencil combo and not a pen / fountain pen combo

I read it as a pen/pencil combo Peter, I'm sure that's what was posted earlier in the thread.

The first post makes it clear that it is a pen & Pencil or FP & RB combo. Post 22 makes it clear that it will be a capless pair so you are right it is a pen/pencil combo unless it opens up.

Steve, can it be a kitless pen and pencil? Instead of a pencil can it be a letter opener?

do i give up now:sob:
I did want to offer both options of pen \ pencil RB\FP
I thought that we could do both and vote separately (almost 2 comps in one)

if I had asked 1st with Jim I would have known this is not possible

I kept away from kitless as i wanted to open up to the newcomers to the forum
I am not adverse to letter opener...but I then worried this would upset any that have already started (or ordered kit)

so i learnt my lesson...maybe I should get Jim to close this thread and I can start again

Steve, this is your competition, make it what you want it to be but I guess you have to make it unambiguous and simple.
