We loved using the caravan we bought last year but absolutely hated the faff and time it takes to set up and take down plus as I like to clean it when getting home that has to be done berfor putting the thing away not to mention the stress I felt especially on the motorway with a large outfit and what seem to be 100s of lorries...so... My missus wanted a motorhome in the first place and I admitted my mistake and bit the bullet so here's the beast, not yet prepped or reg plates fitted but will be before I collect on Wednesday. It's better equipped that my house.

I felt physically sick after I agreed the deal and left a deposit earlier this week.:rolling:

Very nice Bob. I'm envious, keeping thinking about getting one of those and driving off into the sunset but I keep bottling it. Good luck with it.

I know too many people, some relatives and close friends who have always "gonna do it one day" and never managed because of health problems. A big motivator.

Hi Bob,
You will not be disappointed in your motor-home. It will be a little strange to start with, but everything will fall into place after a little while. (one piece of advice I can give you, put things away when one has finished with them). Nice looking van by the way.
We used to have a shogun and Avondale Rialto 550-4 caravan, a big unit, but after my two heart attacks in 2013, the caravan got too much for me, so I sold both the van and shogun.

So in January 2017, I retired from work and bought a Autocriuse Starblazer, Peugeot 2.8. As you said, it's got more gizmos than my own house. Even a garage to fit my wife's mobility scooter into.
We both went to Scotland for five weeks last year, done over 2,000 miles and loved every minute of that holiday. We have been away five times this year and thinking of going away again in two weeks time. I have also looked into a small tow car, (smart car will do), so we can pop around small towns, better than trying to drive through with the motor-home.
So enjoy, Bob, it's great to be on an open road and to be able to stop whenever and wherever to have a brew!
Enjoy and take care,
Kelvin

Thanks guys really looking forward to it now although my wife hasn't actually seen it. We do know the layout and quality well though as my in laws have one bought last year so I'm on pretty safe ground. Reason she hasn't is because she's got a leg in plaster following a major foot op 2 weeks past Wednesday and has to keep it elevated for 3 weeks so total 6 weeks in plaster, housebound then hopefully a moon boot for another 6 weeks.

Highly inconvenient I say as I cook, clean and wash clothes, ( I have to read instruction books for household appliances every night :sob:) and learn how to shop for groceries. To cap it all I get no sympathy whatsoever, don't know why that is. :thinks:

Thanks for the tips btw Kelvin, we're well used to putting items away and while I would resist getting a car to tow I hadn't ruled it out. My thoughts were maybe an electric bike for the wife to which I could attach a home made trailer to put the dog in.:winking:

Ooooh - get you! That looks the dogs wotsits Bob. Needless to say, kettles in the Highlands boil just the same as those elsewhere, so if you're passing through...

I've managed to put a few tree scratches on Kelvins camper van before now, which I can tell you is very swanky inside, (the outside is a bit knackered now) so be great to inspect the inside of yours too.

You're not getting anywhere near it Phil :rolling:

Love Scotland, have been there 5 times in the caravan I've just traded in but only as far north as Ayr which I wasn't impressed with as it's more than a bit run down these days. However the only time it didn't rain was our trip to Melrose so we're a bit jinxed.

Anyway the trouble with Scotland is that it's full of Scots :whistling: Only kidding Phil before you get the claymore out :kiss:

My father in law was a Scot. Researched the family tree way bay with the help of his niece and boasted loudly when he learned some of his ancestors were Border reivers but wasn't at all amused discover that earlier they were Cumbrians. :funny: Declared that the records were not at all accurate and refused to do any more research.

He never lived that down, bless him. Not that I ever reminded him of course, - as if! :whistling:
