Strip it off and start again, if you get rid of the bloom now it will come back.
Any or all of the above can cause this.
Usually down to contamination of the blank under the ca or moisture in the atmosphere causing different curing.

Hi All

Just to recap

My work shop is a insulated garage has a dehumidifier in it if you cut steel the exposed edge does not rust so moisture in the air should never be an issue here.
I did not use an accelerator but may try in the future.
The glue is branded and I have use for other things so trust, it is sold in a certain tools shop AX??? we all know in the UK and the glue was only opened a week ago so should be fresh.

My other pens to date a few mahogany ones cut at the same time form the same stock which has been in the garage for 8 plus years and a letter opener have been fine.
Starting to wonder if the good of woodturning had fell out with me for a night.

Might just chalk this up to experience strip back to wood and have another go tonight.

Few questions.

1. Is CA then Micro mesh the most common way ?
2. Do most people CA then leave overnight ensure its all gone off ?

many thanks for all your posts.

Regards

Mark

I saw this a few months ago, I like Grub32, he seems to know what he is doing.

Hi Kevin

Thanks for the video link most interesting will give his process a go just need to order some accelerator and think I may need to be a little lighter handed with the Micro Mesh.

regards

Question:How old is you CA? I had had issues and found my CA was too old. I now date the bottle after funding out that CA has about one (1) year shelf life. Just a thought.

Hi

Thanks for the advice will date form now on, however it was purchased with the last 3 weeks so should be fresh and I will probably use it up quite quickly.

Lots of good advice, which I can't really add to, except to say I use the same branded CA from the same outlet in Warrington and have never had an issue with it

I tend to leave mine overnight now Mark, but i used to finish it off with in a few hours with no issues .. Just CA (about 10 coats minimum) once dry, micro mesh and whatever cream you choose to use to polish it up ..

The credits came due to him uploading an image using the in line attachment link .. But nothing to worry about guys, this will be sorted before the raffle officially starts .. :whistling:

I used to get this when first started...mine was due to too much accelerator

i also have switched to thin cheap ca which is £1 for 10 tubes
I use a whole one on each pen
I use it on top of a coat of BLO

i never wait for it to dry overnight
i just go thru the micromesh used wet
