If people have an aversion to guns & ammo why are bullet pens so popular & why do people make them? Could be a bit of a moral dilemma.
Bill,
I was the first with an anti comment so fair enough that I respond!
I dont have an aversion to guns or ammunition, I am ex services and believe that they have a purpose in life. They of course have many functions, from use within the military, or within the Police force although the proliferatioin of guns into public life is another lengthy debate. The recreational use of guns is the area which I have an issue with. I used to shoot for Cambridgeshire when I was at school, and as a sporting discipline it is no different from curling, archery, or any other similar sport. What most dont realise that there is a high level of fitness required to shoot competitively. From that aspect of the recreational use of firearms we move towards the killing of animals. I am not a tree hugging, world wildlife fund donating, individual. I fish, I kill them, I eat them. If they are the wrong sort, or are not big enough or are identifiable as pregnant females, I put them back. I shoot, but not much, and I eat what I kill. If I dont want to eat it I dont kill it. If its a pest I kill it and destroy it.
I cannot tolerate anyone who kills for the sake of being a trophy hunter. The days of the Raj, colonial shooting exploits in Africa are of the days well gone by. The news today of the unnecessary killing of a Lion in Africa by some Spanish pillock who paid £34,000 to go and track a male Lion and then blast it with a gun from a safe distance?? I hope he gets not just ridiculed for his stupidity, but ever facet of South African law is bought to bear on the prat. It is the "Hunting" brigade who need to be neutered, not the guns and the ammo, guns and ammo are not dangerous, it is the cretinous individuals who handle them that are. We have some here who shoot stags, only a few fortunately. However there are these idiots, from all countries, who travel, if their own countries do not contain enough suitable large animals for them to kill, to the like of Africa to shoot a large animal who isnt doing any one any degree of harm.
The big animal hunting brigade, the so called industry that surrounds these people and the media tripe that goes with it are shallow people who have not achieved much else in life othr than kill something that somebody else hasnt, Heres one example, Rebecca Francis
Rebecca Francis, the giraffe hunter lambasted by Ricky Gervais, says she does not regret killing animal 'for one second' - People - News - The Independent. What a clever girl she is. She has managed to killl all sorts of wildlife and, be it five years ago, managed to kill a giraffe and if that wasnt quite sick enough, then had her photograph taken with the animal. There she is smiling dressed as some form of pseudo military commando, with the exception of the long blond hair. Shes so clever, having killed a black bear with an arrow, well that was clever, and the point was? Is she of such low esteem that the only way she could boost her own standing by killing a black bear. And I'm afraid there are, as you all know well, many more.
Huntinglife.com, wich supports these ridiculous and senseless acts tries to suggest that the Hunters are supporters of wildlife and the acts they carry out are in the best interest of nature, Francis tries to justify her killing of the giraffe as an act requested by the tribesman as it was an old bull giraffe. Oh do grow up you stupid woman, we're not all as stupid as you! Yeah right, just happened to be walking along in Africa in case you should be approached by a loan tribesman who wanted someone to kill a giraffe for him. Sick. What sort of signal does this send to the Chinese who we are trying to stop consuming Rhino horn in the belief that it can give them more erections? The ivory poachers who rather than satisfy an ego are trying to make money, be it illegally?
In case there was any doubt what so ever, in my mind, these people are just very stupid people for which there is no defence, what they do is barbaric and in no way supports the wildlife, if you want to support wildlife be a vet, and at least that way when you fail to cure them from what ever disease they have you can shoot them.
So, I'm just off to the workshop, got some bolt action pens to make.
Sorry Bill but you did ask.
