Thank you very much for your comments, gentlemen.

better IMHO to house the pens in a desk block of some kind to keep that oh so smooth outline. I would like to see the little Ebony base but locating a sort of pin could make it less fluid to use. Normal grooves work so well.
Peter (Aussie Peter), that's a circumstantial revue, I like it!. But I am not sure I understand everything you wrote. "desk block", you mean pen stand? "Normal grooves work so well." That I don't get. Which grooves? By the way Peter, this is a load of punctuation signs, don't be afraid to use them when writing to a poor non-British-native speaker! :winking: If you need more, just ask !

I see you have used Dayacom Jr Gents, so quality inside and out.
Thanks Phil. What a sharp eye!

I do find that the shape is a little dated.
But the lack of a clip would stop me from buying it...
if you don't like the kit finials and clips, just send them to me I can use them
if you have enough solid wood left on the end why don't you shape your own integral finial so as to make something more contemporary rather than following an older fashion with your new design concept of kitless. For example instead of the rounded top how about a rounded dovetail (queue d'aronde) , or a spiral dovetail, or indeed just an attached ball.
Dated shape, yes, I assume it! As for the clip, I understand every body won't like it, but for everyone his own style, il en faut pour tous les goûts !
If you really want finials and cap ends, I have a load of them, I would be very pleased to send them to you.
About a more modern look, it is a nice idea indeed, even if I don't clearly see what a spiral dovetail could be. This is another of my designs. Any better to your taste? :

I am not sure about the cabochon being where it is.
That is interesting, Silver. What would be a better place you think?

I think the nib needs changing for a recognised top marque one tho.
You are right. I have some nice nibs from Beaufort, and I usually propose them with my pens. The IPG was just for the pic, maybe it is a bad habit.

They are very smart we all have our own views and opinions but I like a pocket clip but if it works for you what does it matter :up::up::up::up::up::up:

Dear Pierre a groove I refer to is : 1. A half round router shape or groove that has two ends so the pen stays in place. Please refer to the one I sent you. It can be made different and interesting as well by placing it at an angle.
2. A block of something could be from Corian, Timber etc heavy enough to stay in place, could also act as a paper weight (also very handy). This to house the groove.

By keeping the Cabochon out of the pen altogether you maintain the smooth lines you have created IMHO.

So many times in answering I used in the past pictures etc not being skilled in computer use this has nearly stopped. Just when I was getting used to Windows 7 Pro I had Windows 10 dumped on my machine without my control. Yes I know I can put 7 back on but losing my printer (no script any more for an HP 2300) I had to buy another printer, the list goes on.

Like Frank Sinatra I do tend to do things my way in a hurry.

Enjoy your summer and penmaking mate I certainly am. ~~~~~~``````!!!!!!!######^^^^^^*******___-----++++=== thanks to you I have reviewed the top main keys.

Your friend Peter.

Ah 'Putaing cong' (comme ils disent ici) eux sont meilleurs :winking:

Its a cultural thing between countries which I believe you have ably demonstrated. There is no doubt that you make fine pens in design, manufacture and finish.

However, the first 2 in this post needed more explanation because you had designed them to be desk pens without having holders ie they should not roll, but are not designed to be held in the pocket. BUT in France there are many more people who use desk pens than in the Anglo-Saxon based countries where they do not always have the sort of jobs available in France, let me give you an example, in UK the office of 'Maire' does not exist, yes there are mayors but they do not have the same responsibilities in detail; for example they cannot marry people, neither can they carry out or enforce the rule of the prefecture (there are no prefectures in the UK) . But both need fountain pens, however, the French Maire needs it in his office because everyone comes to him whereas in UK the British Mayor travels a lot and so needs his fountain pen in his pocket.

Now this is but a small example of the cultural differences BUT your first 2 pens actually reflect those cultural differences very clearly which is why

A. you made them that way and
B. they have attracted so much discussion
