I am no expert on recognising different types of wood, Jim, but Turners Retreat sold it to me as Thuya Burr and they don't list Burr Elm as a wood they supply, so I think it probably is Thuya Burr...unless anybody knows different!
Thanks to everybody who has said nice things about this pen. I hope you are right and that it does sell, in which case I shall be ordering another one.
