Dont get too hung up about acetone, its also called nail varnish remover! But its not a good idea to drink it or expose yourself longer then is necessary. About a year ago there was an article in Woodturning magazine about a guy who set out n a quest to tuen a bowl from sheets of acrylic. From memory the problems that he had all centred around the type of glue, he managed to find a specialist glue manufacturer who advised him and from there on success. Havent a clue when the article was, who wrote it, what the glue was or where he got it from so all in all I'm about as much help as a chocolate tea pot.
If memory serves me right, CA glue didn't work because it didnt get a consistent bond and it made the blank blow out, but then again I could be wrong. I'd suggest googling a specialist glue manufacturer and give them a call.
