Thats a cracking result, I got some of this at last years meet up from His Grace Woody. Took me best part of another 6 months before I plucked up enough courage to actually try use it :funny:

Curious as to why you didn't fill it with brass powder or something, or did you particularly want the unadulterated wood ?

I live in the middle of a gold field, (Aust last gold rush.) Bugger we don't get that timber here.
Very nicely made pen Paul.:thumbs::thumbs:

Trust me you don't want this timber there.
I think it came from and should have stayed with the HMS Bounty and her mutinous crew in the Pacific, sank with all hands lost on the Great Barrier Reef near Cape York.

I wanted jut to see the wood Phil. If I'd have used brass powder, there were that many holes you would need a crane to pick it up :funny:

Angelou,

Goldfield burrs are a bit like the UKs Summit Wood! Goldfield is an area in Australia in the south of Western Australia ( I think), any wood that is unable to be positively identified is deemed a goldfield burr. Some of it can be solid, some a waste of effort, some beautiful and some bland

Neil you touched on a pet peave of mine Eucalyptus Burl and Goldfields Burl classifications are an enema. Any holey crappy piece of timber though is up to us take it or leave it some extraordinary Aussie Burl is always like this me I see it and run for the hills when its full of holes I believe the recovery of this pen to be great.

Kind regards and full marks for courage buying or using suspect timber anywhere. Peter.:thumbs:
