Yep you're right it's old stock in fact in antique terms it's age means it can be classed as Vintage.

Buying vintage sometimes leads to higher prices!

Hi Philly, the material is Cellulose Acetate Pen Rod . Vince at the Turners Workshop sells it.

Because of the diam of the pen rod there is very little to take off. I shear scrape using a skew in negative rake and the sand through the grits.

I finish them wet sanding with micro pads up to 12000 grit and finally polish with 2 or 3 coats of Hut Ultra Plastic Polish (other brands are readily available).
