Very nice Vic, I've never seen a vacuum chuck used and am interested in the setup.

Very simple to set up Paul and very effective in its operation. This system uses a vacumm generator run off a compressor it does not have a vacuum pump. One advantage in this system is that if you have a power failure the vacumm is maintained by the air reservoir from your compressor tank so that you can safely remove the piece being turned until power has been restored to the lathe.

Great video that, thanks Vic.

Got me thinking this has, but might be a bit pricey for the amount of use I would get out of one. Not forgetting the addition of the compressor cost as well :thinks:

Sure Phill, If I hadn't already got a compressor set up in the shed I may have thought twice. In saying that my compressor is only one of the cheap Lidl ones and I find it very handy for all sorts of jobs.

My local Aldi still have an offer on compressors and lots of power tools in stock.
